We divided our design exploration into three parts, called moondogs, approaching the field of electronic attire from different perspectives:
In Distressed for Success we conducted a brief, hands-on exploration of what it means to design and wear post-optimal attire. We produced working prototypes, which were tried out by us and other people in real-world settings. The experiences were documented with written personal reflections.
In Science Friction we created stories of possible futures. In order to avoid the goal-centered and plot driven nature of much contemporary scenario writing we developed the soap opera Namiko for a character based approach. This was also a story-telling kit used to involve other people in creating the episodes.
In Droppings and Dandies, we designed cool and secretive attire for more mature and established relations. We drew inspiration from subverting the materials and functions of electronic objects that technological progress has left behind.
