Pophorn

Pophorn is a series of small software applications that transform your mobile phone into a musical instrument as well as a portable music studio.

With a Pophorn in your pocket you can create spontaneous music compositions anytime and anywhere together with others or on your own. The sounds are created through sampling the surroundings and then emphasizes interesting sound patterns and rhythms. The Pophorns acknowledge the mobile phone as a platform for active sonic (co-)creation, and aim to shorten the distance between the pocket and musical action.

The Pophorns has travelled the world, from the streets of Bogotá and the countryside of Burma to the concert hall of Lincoln Center in New York. We have developed Pophorns for Android, iPhone and J2ME phones.
